My 6 month old chihuahua I just noticed tonight has a tooth it looks like that has grown behind his lower K9 tooth kinda like he has 2 teeth one in front of the other and in that one spot only, has anyone else seen this or is this a normal happening in this breed? and one last question do the have special dental vets or are most reg vets able to handle this as we live in a small town thanks in advance!!

What you see is an adult K9 tooth that came down in front of the baby tooth (also known as deciduous teeth). It does happen in most toy to small breeds. Your vet should be able to remove it under sedation or if you're planning on neutering him they will be able to remove the puppy tooth then. The answer to your last question is yes your regular Veterinarian will be able to handle it being that they see hundreds of small breeds with same problem.

Most vets do dental. Sounds like a puppy tooth doesn't want to come out on its own. My chi had this problem. May work itself loose, have you tried to see if wiggles??

If both in good/tight then the vet may have to take the puppy tooth out and I would. Save problems down the road.

My kid had the same problem with all his baby teeth. Go figure!

Call your vet and ask about the situation. He would have the tool to properly remove.

Your pups baby teeth didn't fall out when his adult teeth came in. This same thing happened to my Pomeranian, its very common in smaller breed dogs, but a vet does need to remove the extra teeth or they will cause trouble latter and be more expensive to fix if you wait. My vet actually removed the extra teeth for free when my dog was there getting neutered, so I doubt it would cost very much.

Pets are like people and lose their baby teeth at different rates. Any vet will be able to tell you if an extraction is necessary at this time.

The baby tooth has not fallen out. I would watch it and see if it falls out on its own. Sometimes you have to get a vet to pull them. Give him some good hard toys to chew. That will sometimes help them to fall out on their own.
