Let's put this question into perspective here. First of all I'm assuming that he was once a woman - had an identity issue throughout his life and had a sex change when he was an adult. .
Yes, I can see how this information initially would freak you out.

I have to ask - until you "found out" did you like him? Did you think you had a good relationship with him? If the answer to these are "yes" then we can assume it's the fact that he told you something he felt you should know. He probably wanted the relationship not to be based on dishonesty and decent so he felt he had to tell you his most innermost anguished secret. How you reacted to the news would set the tone to whether the relationship ends or moves forward.

There are many people who through a freak of nature had been raised a certain sex when inside they feel they don't fit in. Yes, it may seem odd to most people but to those inflicted with this inner conflict it's torchure. It's worst when others who don't understand do nothing but humiliate these people. They have feelings just as you or I, why can't you just treat them as any other "guy" or "girl"? You would if you knew nothing about their situation so why would you do a 360 when you know what has happened to them? Persecuting anyone who is different is just wrong. I have absolutely no regard or respect of those who inflict their own prejuduces against others.

So to answer your question - If I liked him before then knowing something so personal would only make me feel honoured to be included in his likely small group of individuals who know his inner most secret.

In real life, if my current boyfriend were to tell me that he used to be a woman, I really wouldn't give a rats *** about the being a woman part and I would be supportive but I would not continue the relationship in the same capacity. It would be deception after all this time and I would not be able to trust in him enough after that point. I'd break it off.

A person has the responsibility to reveal themselves from the get-go. If any boyfriend pretended to be anything else but himself, this would end the dating most probably for me.
