Which is the best antivirus that is free?

i need a antivirus but don't have much $$$$, so what would be a good free antivirus

AVG is very good, there are a couple of other good free ones also (like Avast and Antivir).

You also need to make sure you have all the windows updates from Microsoft, if you're running any version of Windows.

I would also strongly urge you to have a good anti-spyware program or two in place (installed), like Spybot Search and Destroy (free), and SpywareBlaster (also free)), as well as Lavasoft AdAware SE Personal 1.06 (free).

Also make sure you have a good firewall running on your computer (something better than the Windows Firewall that comes with XP (but if you don't have any other firewall, then make sure the Windows Firewall is turned on (go into control panel and find the Windows Firewall icon and click it and then select "On" and click "Ok")

avg by grisoft it is the best going and dont listen to anyone else it is totally free and does a great job no other compares just type in avg in yahoo search or google or what ever site you prefer and it will come up it is well recoginized by even microsoft they also recommend it for everyone who is looking for free and adaware se is great also it is free and it is put out by lava soft last but not bad either is spybot search and destroy it is very good and free also well good luck with all this info all i shared is totally free

i would have to say avg i have it and it works good it catches lots of stuff and for firewall protection i would say for you to get zone alarm at zonelabs.com\\ and if you down load from like lime wire or morpheous well i would suggest you go to phoenix labs .com and down load peer guardian it works wonders i could tell you whats it for but its better you read it for your self if you know what i mean

im using avast its awesome especially when im downloading music it lets me know that theres a virus present while im downloading the song its an awesome must to have and its free!!!
