After the oil cools, line a funnel with a paper coffee filter and set it in a jar, so its above the jar mouth and the small funnel end is in the jar.Slowly pour in the oil and the coffee filter will act as a filter to trap all the small bits, while letting the cleaned oil drain into the jar. It can be a slow process but it saves you from buying more oil.Keep the filtered oil in the fridge

Sometimes, you can salvage your oil by straining it into successively finer grades of mesh to catch small bits of food, but depending on what oil you're using and what you're using it for, it's better to just throw it away. Oil can go rancid, and after it's been used in something like a deep-fat fryer, it gets burned and smokes at a lower point than it should. If, after you've strained your oil, you find that it's useless, you can look online to see if there are any places nearby that take oil to be filtered and used as biodiesel.

After you use it to completion simply take it to Jiffy Lube or another oil shop and they will recycle it for you.
