twice I have lived in oregon seperated by a year and when I move there I get really bad itchy scalp, no dandruff. could it be because I always put my hair up and it takes a long time to dry because of the dampness here, could it produce something on my scalp that makes it itch so bad?

i'm pretty sure it's just cause of the wetness. i put my hair up all the time when it's wet, and that sometimes happens. most of the time i just get a headeache though, so it depends.

It's a funny thought, but, no, actual mold cannot grow on your scalp unless you don't wash your hair for months and rub old food on it.

I'm not sure what it could be if you're not experiencing flaking. I'd guess something like eczema; it could definitely flare up in damp weather. Eczema oftentimes doesn't flake and will appear in occasionally (but not always) moist and dark places, like under the armpits, and can be very itchy. Perhaps leave your hair down after washing to allow it to air dry, or consider blow-drying.

There are certain Neutrogena anti-itch shampoos you can get. Shampoos with oatmeal and tea tree oil may also help.

If you have very ichy hair, you could have lice. The damp areas do take along time to dry! Ohhh.. and I'm pretty sure that mold can't grow in your hair or anyone else's.

Yes, it can happen. It usually happens to people with dreads though. I don't think you'd have it unless you dont completely wash out all of your shampoo. You should probably contact your doctor about it
