I dated her for a year and a half, and in the end it was misery in many ways...the fighting, her insecurity, her comparing me to another guy from back when. But since then, I've never been even close to comfortable around any others and even now, nearly a year and a half later, I miss her a lot and think of her sometimes. I don't regret the end of "us," but I DO miss the warmth of the companionship. So I'm just curious (not dwelling), but was she "the one?" Did I miss her forever? Or will something else make things seem different? Or is finding someone like that more common than it seems?

Reread your question to yourself, you kind of sound like a girl. Do you tell your friends this? Come on now. (My version of tough love). Maybe she was 'the one,' but you'll find that there are many 'the ones' throughout your life.

Remember, girls are very perceptive, your mindset, attitude, and hangups about your past can hurt you as much as they can help you.

My advice: work on your mindset. Go out and have fun, leave this girl in the past (a learning experience, but that's it), you'll be amazed at how attractive a positive attitude is. Just remember, the more you sit around wondering if you missed 'the one' the more you should just slap on a dress and cut off your...you know whats.

You said it yourself, you miss her companionship. We often forget the bad times once loneliness creeps in. But, let me ask you, if you two did get back together, would things be better? Or, would you be fighting again and would she be still comparing you to another guy?

She was not the one for you my friend but someday you will find a girl that will be warm kind and loving towards you and will do no more comparing when it comes to you for if she really likes you there would be no need to so hang in there it will work out for you in the end someday HUGS
