Changing resolution on a video.?

I have a video that is 1024x768 in resolution. But I want to change it to something smaller. It is also in avi format and I wish for it to stay that format. I tried using windows movie maker but it only saves in wmv format.

Anyone know a program that does this and preferably free?

There should be resizing filters that come along with it. Just resize to appropriate resolution and save the output avi.

Try virtualdub.
