There are many hospitals in every area that need voulnteers, thought most of them have a pretty extensive requirements to do so. Also, many of the homeless or food banks also need alot of help. Have you thought of helping in homes for the developmentally disabled or the elderly, I would look at places like that, they always need help. Good for you!! Wanting to help out in your community. We need more teens like you. Good Luck!! :)

You can organize teens to:
1) pick up litter along side the roads
2) clean up city or county parks, do painting
3) find some elderly people and offer to do things for them at
their house free of charge
4)volunteer at a nursing home or retirement home. I'm sure the elderly would love the visits and attention
5) volunteer at a local animal shelter or equivalent
6) start a food drive for the elderly and poor...why should they only have these drives during Christmas time?
7) volunteer at a local women's shelter

Best of luck to you.

Check with an Animal Shelter-they need people to cuddle kitties & walk dogs. Possibly the Hospital or retirement homes need people to read to the sick/elderly. A Community Garden that grows food for your local food bank may be in need. Your Libray may need help for the younger peoples Summer Reading Programs. In my State-Oregon-people your age can go through the Red Cross and obtain a Baby-Sitters Certificate. So there are a few to start with . I am proud of you for asking ! Good Luck !

Your local volunteer center may be of some assistance. The volunteer center in my area has a youth leadership program, and uses that program as a template for creating student-based volunteer clubs in our local schools. You might want to check our some of the reference material at your volunteer center or the Points of Light Foundation:

http://www.pointsoflight.org

They provide tremendous resources for volunteer centers, and can provide some reference material and other guidance for your projects.

check out habitat for humanity. then you might be able to set up something like cleaning up parks and starting urban gardens, or creating murals using scrapped materials in run down areas.

if you live in a more rural environment, you can try creating decorative items that you can sell to poorer people for very cheap (if you sew, create cute clothes, etc, so people can have well fitting clothes that don't come from the thrift store, decorative pillows, etc)

you can start up a theater project with younger kids, where you help them write their own plays and put on one production a year.

I'll have to come back with more ideas

is there a Ronald McDonald house in your area? they use volunteers to cook and clean the house.
if you didn't know McDonald's House charities provide a place to stay for families who have to travel out of their area to get medical treatment for their child or family member. they stay for free, and receive meals to lessen their financial burden. they also donate money to children's hospitals.
along with cleaning or cooking, youth can spend time with children, and participate in fund raisers.
