How can people who profess to believe in God ask for illness or suffering? No religion I am familiar with preaches that.
Look what happened when a school an Amish community was attacked earlier this year. Did the elders condemn the attacker? No, they offered support to the families of the victims, including the family of the man who had attacked them.
This kind of spirit is extremely difficult to emulate, but it is the only attitude that will lead us to a better world.
Best wishes to someone who understands the love of God.

As I see it, that's because Mary has died and lengthy gone to Heaven. Praying to her is a kind of sorcery at worst and consulting a favourite spirit at superb. both Sorcery and consulting favourite spirits is a sin. One definition of sorcery i stumbled on is: sorcery: Use of supernatural power over others with the help of the information of spirits. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There shall not be stumbled on with you all of us who makes his son or his daughter to opt for the help of the fireplace, one which makes use of divination, one which practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, (11) or a charmer, or a consulter with a favourite spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. (12) For whoever does those products is an abomination to Yahweh: and thanks to those abominations Yahweh your God does force them out from beforehand you. perchance i'm incorrect, yet i do not save in options any precedent interior the Bible to desire to Mary or the different useless man or woman who's approved of. I do save in options verses that say Jesus intercedes for us. I do save in options verses that coach prayer to useless human beings, yet not favorably. Edit: CJ - i imagine you're good. I discovered what "necromancy" ability as we talk after seeing your post and searching it up.

Matthew 5:44 - "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you:"
Why did Jesus tell this? Was it merely a good thing to do? The Truth is very wonderful. When you obey the Words of Jesus, by praying for and loving everyone, your own situation is affected. Your own bondage and captivity is reversed.
The man Job- relates to us all. He had so many troubles and even his friends spoke against him and persecuted him with their words.
But Job had to Pray for these persecutors (his friends). Job had to overcome his anger, hate, and self-pity. Job had to Love and Pray for those who were despiteful to him. He had to Pray for and Love his enemies. Because when he did this, his own bondage and captivity was reversed.
Read the Following verse:
Job 42:10 - "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends:"
It is the same with you. When you sincerely Love and Pray for everyone - even your enemies, meaning those who have oppressed you or hated you or harmed you, then you are set free from all of your own bondage!

That was an excellent move. One time, my PSP was stolen ( imagine how angry I was). My religous leader asked me to pray
to god and ask him if it could be returned. After a while the PSP was not returned, so the religous leader told me to forgive the stealer and I still do.

You know what, there is no such thing as a "Dumb" prayer request. God might answer it and he might not, but remember that he ALWAYS does what's BEST for YOU!

You did fine! We'd have a much better world if everyone sought prayer for those who are offending us.

Don't feel like an idiot. Your intention seems to have been good and your concern for this unknown person sincere. I think it admirable.
