I forgot to include another question I have on the jury service topic I began yesterday, so here it goes:

If I'm not a registered voter and do not have a license, because I don't drive, am I still qualified for jury service. If yes, o.k. If, no then why did I receive a summons to appear at court next week?

Yes, you are certainly qualified. Indeed, the only qualification is that you are an adult citizen who speaks English (or, in some courts, ASL; and, in California, that you are not in prison or on parole). The voter and drivers' license lists are just lists that are used, among others, to get as broad a cross-section of the population to the court house as prospective jurors. They are not a means of qualifying jurors.

If you have a California ID then you are still on the rolls for jury service. Almost anyone qualifies for jury service. But you must be a United States Citizen to serve. It really is an experience, especially if you get on a case. You learn a lot. So I hope you go and do get on a case so you can really see and experience our justice system. I think you will enjoy it except for when your just sitting in the jury room around waiting for a court to call you.

I even have served two times. I have been given chosen on the 1st day and the trial lasted 4 days. It replaced right into a criminal type X drug sales interior of one hundred yards of a school. It replaced into interesting and a few situations laughable what the protection tried to apply to get him off. He tried to declare he replaced into a hundred and fifty yards faraway from the school development so he couldnt be tried for that regulation. He in no way did deny he offered the medicine in basic terms how a procedures faraway from the school he replaced into and the burden of the medicine. The regulation pronounced college assets no longer college homes. interesting case because it replaced into the 1st trial for that offense in our county. 2d time i replaced into on a coroners jury and that's barely sometime. you will desire to be propared to attend on the same time as the legal specialists and decide argue with the jury out of the courtroom room. Take a e book or something to maintain you occupied on the same time as waiting.

Do you have an ID card issued by the DMV? Then that would do it.
