i am nearsighted, and my eyes feel fatigued near bright screen, and more comfortable with dark..but my friend told me bright is better and dark is worse for your eyes. which is better and which is worse?

Your friend is wrong, a dark screen is better for eyes because it's less harsh on your eyes. It's more relaxing too. I grew up knowing that, and that's why I never watch movies with the light off, because your eyes are on the screen and the darkness all around makes the screen brighter.

Make sure your screen is bright; a dark screen will do you no good. However, make sure you're sitting at least a foot away from your computer screen and if your eyes are bothering you, try sitting a little higher up from the screen so you're looking down at it. That way your eyes won't hurt as much. And if your eyes are getting sore or fatigued STILL, you might want to try getting some glasses that are made for looking at a computer screen for a long period of time. Good luck!

I have the same problem. I keep my computer screen turned down to about 35%, which seems to work fine for me. I can't stand to look at a bright screen - so try setting yours down to about 35% and see how that works.
