That is NOT a sign of worms..it is an indication that you need to take her to the vet to have her anal sacs checked. They may need expressing, be impacted or even infected.("Scooting is also NOT a sign of worms either)
As for knowing if your dog has worms you need to take a stool sample in to the vet and have a fecal test done..this will tell you if she has worms and if so what type(s) and if she does the vet will prescribe the proper dewormer. Do NOT use OTC dewormers they are ineffective and can also be dangerous to your dog and also indiscriminant deworming without knowing what type(s) worms you are dealing with is not a good idea. Not all dewormers kill all types of worms.
Worms aren't always apparent..you won't often see worms in the stool unless the dog is very infested or if the dog has tapeworms. Outward signs don't always show either..the only real way to know if a dog has worms is to do a fecal test.

Just go ahead and go to Walmart or a petstore and get a dewormer, even if she doesn't have them, it will prevent them. You are supposed to give your dog a wormer regularly anyway, most are every month. The number one sign that she definitely has it though would be worms (white stringy looking things) in her stool. She may also rub her butt on the ground, and she may have a pot belly. Also check her gums, if they are pale or white, then she definitely has them. If she is an outside dog, it's even more likely she does. For her sake, go ahead and get the wormer, because if she does have them, it's very uncomfortable and it can kill her after a while. Just be sure to follow the directions.

I know you see the little white worms. But you should just go to the vet. They should take Worm medicine regularly I think.

she could have a pot belly, diarrhea, vomiting, a dull coat. Any of these could be signs, you could also possibly see worms in her stool. If you suspect them you could go to walmart or petsmart and get a general dewormer to use (its safe with or without worms) or you could go to your vet to find out for sure and he/she will prescribe a wormer! good lucK!

take her to the vet for a fecal float! They can check for ALL intestinal worms this way.
It could also be her anal glands. They fill up and get inflamed. I would not recommend trying to supress them yourself, the odor is noxious.
