Our town desparately needs to be up lifted up in many ways - employment, attitude (pride), physical improvements. We have not recovered from the hurricanes two years ago. I would like to find some examples on the web of towns that have lifted themselves up. Thank you!

Our county volunteer center has worked with some of the local towns and has mobilized the community on various cleanup projects:

Here's a short list of some of the things that were accomplished in this past several months:

Community Center Cleanup/Painting
Park Cleanup/Trash Removal
Beach Cleanup
Environmental restoration and cleanup of nesting area for endangered species.
Restoration and cleanup of animal shelters

Our local volunteer center worked with local corporations for funding of these projects. In many cases, several projects were adopted by local companies.

By having volunteers mobilized directly from the local companies, it uplifts the attitude of the community in general, as the local organizations are doing their part to make the town better and stronger.
