I would like to marry a Asian girl who I have fallen in love with. But I wonder if I can marry her. Also, what does she need to do if we are able to marry. Will she be able to come with me to the United States? Will I need extra documents to marry? Is there websites I can find this kind of information can I also email them.

As an American citizen you will be able to marry to her and get her permanent residency and eventually US citizenship. At the moment if she wants to come she can apply for a visa as a visitor and you can start paperwork for her here. For you to start it though I think you need to be at least engaged.

A lot of paperwork is involved so I would highly recommend you obtain an immigration lawyer to help you with it. It's routine but because of the paperwork it's good to go through a lawyer.

In the meantime you can look up more info at the websites below.

You can do one of two things. You can file a K-1 Fiance visa for her or a K-3 spouse visa.

The K-1 Fiance Visa: You would need to file a I-129F at the Service Center having jurisdiction over your place of residence in the US. Once the I-19F is approved, it is forwarded to the Embassy in your fiance's country where she will be required to attend an interview at which time they will issue the K-1 visa if the Embassy deems the relationship valid. She would then have 90 days from entry to the US to marry you and file for Adjustment of Status to Permanent Resident.

The K-3 Spouse Visa: You would need to marry your girlfriend first then you would file an I-130 to the Service Center and once you've received a Notice of Action letter (stating that it has been received and is being processed) you would then file the I-129F (basically same procedure as the K-1, other than the I-130 must be filed first).

If you wish to marry in your friend's country, you will have to find out abut local laws. If she already lives in the United States, there should be no problem in getting married. However, marriage in and of itself does not guarantee that she can obtain permanent residency in the U.S.

I am not sure of where to direct you, but if you do not want to be separated for several years, see if she can come here for the wedding. I know several people who have married overseas (Asia and South America) and their spouses were unable to come to the US for many years (up to 5), some of their marriages survived, but other ended before they were reunited. I do wish you the best of luck, but definitely research this first.

Love is the illusion that one woman is different from the rest.

Good Luck.
