My six month old Shitzu chewed an ink pen and has ink all over his paws and facial whiskers. Is there a safe way to get the ink off? The puppy wipes nor the bath have worked. Is the ink going to hurt his system?
Thanks,

It will wear off. He's not going to be in a beauty contest any time soon, is he? Ask your vet about the ink hurting him; I guess it depends on how much he ate but most likely he will just poop blue if he actually ingested any.

If he doesnt feel sick then is alright and maybe try on his paws some cotton soak in alcohol, i know that removes ink from clothes and as long he doesnt have any cuts it wont hurt your dog. Dont use it though on his face the smell will be too strong. Ultimately hair and whiskers will grow and soon he will have new and clean fur. I can just imagine... What color is the ink? :)

You can try using Dawn dishwashing liquid to bathe the area, but I doubt it will get much of the ink out. You may just have to wait it out. You might be able to get some of the ink out using an alcohol soaked cotton ball or tissue.

Good job trying the bath and wipes. sorry they didn't work. Keep trying with the wipes but in the mean time ask your vet what you should do. don't let it try to clean its own paws! ink can be very harmful to dogs, especially puppies!

My Shi Tzu did the same thing, the ink will not hurt it, but you should try to use dishwashing soap, that is how we got it off! Try to get the ink off as soon as possible so it will not stain its coat or skin!
