1) 3x + y = 6
(2) x - 2y = 2
From (1) * 2:
(3) 6x + 2y = 12
From (3) + (2):
7x = 14
7x / 7 = 14 / 7
x = 2
Substitute x = 2 into (1):
3(2) + y = 6
6 + y = 6
6 + y - 6 = 6 - 6
y = 0
Check the solution of x = 2 and y = 0:
(1) 3(2) + 0 = 6 + 0 = 6
(2) 2 - 2(0) = 2 - 0 = 2

Put each equation in slope-intercept form: y = mx + b, m is the slope of the line: (change in y) / (change in x). And, 'b' represents the y-intercept: the point where the line crosses the y axis, that point has the form: (0,b).

3x - y = -2
- y = -3x -2
y = 3x + 2.
Since b = 2, the point (0,2) is on the line.
For a second point, let x =1, then, y = 3 + 2 = 5.
The 2nd point is (1,5)
Plot the two points & connect the dots.

Follow the same steps for the second linear equation.

you want to get the y on one side of the equation alone, so you minus the 3x from the -2 and the 6. then you get -y= -3x-2 and
y= -3x+6 . You want to change the first equation to y= 3x+2 so that you have a positive y. for the graphing part the numbers in front of x (in this case 3) is the slope and the -2 and 2 are the y intercepts. slope is rise/run, so go up 3, over one on each line. start one line at 2, on the vertical line,and the other line start at -2. then go up 3, over 1

First do u remember y =mx+b
( mx is your slope & b is y- intercept)

arrange your problem that way

So.... -y= -3x-2 ( remove the - by multiplying by a -, to the entire question) and -(-y) = - (-3x) - (-2)

new answer
y= 3x+2
y= -3x+6

Look at your question, we are WORKING DOWNWARD not across.... 3x and -3x cancels out and = 0

so your left with 6+2 = 8 (y= 8)
now that you know y = 8 substitute y for 8 and solve for x

8= 3x+ 2 ( -3x= -8+2) = (-3x= -6) = (x=2)
8= -3x+6

your points are ( 2, 8)

Use the magic finger method,

3x-y=-2

(0, ) ( ,0) (-1.5,0)

Combine the two and you get: (-1.5, -2) - 1st point

Do the same steps above but for 3x+y=6 and you should get (0,6) and (2,0) combine and ya get (2,6) - 2nd point.
