My dog has been sick since last night. Last night he wouldn't eat. Well, today he finally was able to eat. When I took him for his walk, he pooped twice, but they didn't look right. It wasn't diarhea. His first poop were a couple of chocolate looking balls. I opened them up with a stick, and found very dry light brown crumbs. His second poop was dark brown red logs (kind of like brick color). I tried to open them with a different stick, and it was very hard to open. However, I saw the inside, and it was the same as the outside. Not liquidy at all, but not very dry either. Should I worry about this? Should I call the vet? Please Help.

It might of been something that he ate. I would call your vet to ask questions, and if he tells you to come in he might ask for a stool sample. ( some of your dog's poop)
The vet will most likely do an anal exam, so make sure that your dog is comfortable standing for a period of time, and make sure you comfort him alot.
If the vet finds anything, he might suggest you switch to a different dog food.
Good luck, hope the poochinni feels better!

I would collect your dogs poop next time it looks like that and then take it to the vet to make sure he doesn't have a stomach virus or anything like that! Just put in a brown paper bag and they will know what to do with it there!

Sounds like he is having a bout of constipation. Something may have upset his stomach. More importantly, if he has a brick red tinged stool, that may indicate a bleed high up in the intestinal tract or stomach. I would call your vet to be safe.

If this is abnormal, you may want to have him checked out by the vet. He may have just eaten something in the past few days, that caused his stomach to become upset, and cause him to not wish to eat. Wait maybe a day or two, and see if this is a reacurring problem. Then, if it is, take him to the vet.

No, don't worry about this. As long as your dog is eating, then everything is fine. Dogs have very weak stomachs......so he may have ate something that didn't agree with him, and he may have also be constipated. Don't worry about the poop thing. As long as you don't see any worms, or things that look like rice..and they're moving (this would be tapeworms), I don't believe you really need to take him to the vet. Best of luck to you.
