You won't know without him telling you.
Even then, many guys don't want to feel less masculine, so they'll say they're not.
Unfortunately, there's no specific way to be sure. The only near method is actually having sex with him. You'll have a pretty good idea whether he's ever "been there before" simply by his reactions to the whole event. Unfortunately, by then, it's too late, you know know the answer: he's not, thanks to you.
I don't suggest this method, by the way. Not unles you're willing to spead the rest of your life with him. Think about how angry he could become if you were married, with a child, poor, living in a crappy apartment, and very little food for 6 months. The baby is constantly crying and hungry, he's feeling miserable, you're at a loss to do anything about it because you have to stay home and care for your child.... Could you be with him during that time, never knowing if it'll ever get better?
If so, then it doesn't matter if he's a virgin, huh? :-)

There is no physical way to tell. U have to trust the guy. Find out about his reputation--the people he hangs out with also are a good indicator. People are the company they keep.

If you trust him, you'll believe what he tells you. If you're having doubts, he's probably not trustworthy. If he's only telling you that to get you to sleep with him without a condom, DO NOT DO IT!!!! Regardless of if he's a virgin, always, always, always protect yourself first.
