My cousin just had her ovary removed & then my Aunt called and said she was rushed to the ICU & that's all she could tell me. What are some possible things that could've happened? Long term/short term complications? I'm worried. THanks!

The most common complication after a surgical procedure is infection....the Docs will solve the problem hon, don't worry. Good luck!

The most likely reason would be excess loss of blood which put her in a state that requires very attentive care, such as an ICU unit provides. She also may have had some other complication that arose during surgery; either a mistake on the part of the doctor, something due to her overall health, too much anesthesia, or the surgery itself was maybe just too much for her body to handle and she just needs the extra care. It's not that uncommon for people to have to go to an ICU unit following surgery. There are multiple types of ICU units, one of which is called SICU - surgical intensive care unit.

ICU units are very well equipped to handle these problems, so relax as best you can and I'm sure your Aunt will call when she knows more herself. God Bless.

That's a hard question without knowing more of what is going on. It's possible she had some internal bleeding from the ovary being removed and that's why they moved her to ICU.

Usually, ICU care means they need one on one nursing care rather than one nurse for several patients.

Hope she does fine and wait to find out more information from your family.

She could have had an infection, or bleeding, or any thing really. Just stay calm and wait for your family to call you.

Thats hard to answer. She could have had problems waking up and they just want to keep a close watch.
