Potty trained 4 year old regression?

Our 4 year old is potty trained since a few months. But since a few days she suddenly pees in her pens and pooped also.Has anybody experienced the same thing?. It is Christmas time and she loves getting presents.Could that be the reason?

My four-year old is doing the same thing. She's the youngest of 4 kids and all of them went thru a similar 'regression'. I really think it's that she doesn't want to stop playing, etc, until it's too late. She'll learn. Some tips are...

1. Have her help take care of the wet/soiled garments.

2. Kindly point out that she is a big girl and you expect her to stop playing or 'pause her game' to go potty in time.

3. Be positive. Things like 'I know you'll do better next time" etc.

4. Watch her and remind her if necessary.

Remember, she probably already feels embarrased so don't come down on her hard. She'll get it. We all do. LOL

Ahh - the new baby and the regression! Been there 3 times! I think that regression in potty habits is most frustrating as a parent. But your hunch about the connection between regression and new baby is correct. She's feeling insecure and doesn't know how to handle it. We also said stuff like, "F...is SO lucky that he has you for a big sister to teach him. He won't even know how to talk! And look! You can button your clothes and he can't even do that! Do you think you can show him how to use the potty?" As far as potty - you could have her 'show' the baby while she's in utero. And then praise her and tell her how thankful you are that she is such a big girl and how much you love big girls. She'll eventually lose the green eyed monster that has begun to inhabit her and she'll go back to normal.

Regression does happen. She may just be caught up in all the excitement of the season and not think to have to go. The other thing to consider is that something in her world has changed recently and she's stressing about it. (Like a new home, or a new sibling, or loss of someone special...) If it goes on for much longer, I'd consider taking her to the doctor to make sure nothing medically is going on... Some kids wet when they get urinary tract infections....
