Excellent question. Basically nobody knows who anybody is on here. So, people can almost certainly say what they like and the only bit of trouble they'll have is an email from yahoo saying they've been deleted.
People pick on Christianity because they think Christians are soft and wont rise to ridicule, which makes them bullies really. They are the same people that used to hang out in chat rooms and cos they've closed them they now have no where to go so they pick on anyone that thinks a little differently.
I think it's funny to read what they write. I know my God exists and nothing anyone can say will change that.
Happy New Year!!!

"If you're not a Christian, why waste your time on the religious site..."
Ummmm....yoo hoo....hint--there ARE other religions besides Christianity. I am devoutly religious yet I have never been a Christian. Do you realize how insulting this sentence is? Do you even care? You complain about others being critical of your religion yet you post a question that is insulting and rude to other religions, by pretending they don't exist. What gave you the idea that "Religion & Spirituality" means "Exclusively Christian"?
There may not be more Christians on here than non-Christians, but there are more people who believe in gods on here than who disbelieve in the existence in gods. The majority of us are religious, just perhaps not your particular flavor of religion. Either way, how bout if we try to be polite and informative ourselves and not worry about those who may not be?

It is entertaining at times, sad at others to see the criticisms that so called christians or muslims or catholics or jews make towards each other. There is little respect for anyone, which sorta negates all of the religious hype in my opinion.
I've had people come up and ask me if I am a christian, it is not any of their business, why do they need to know my religious beliefs if not to mock me or try to coerce me.

Because nonbelievers have just as much to say on the subject as do believers. And no, nonbelievers don't come here just to "be critical of those who DO believe in God". It's possible for nonbelievers to have perspectives when it comes to religion and spirituality, and there's no reason why their perspective shouldn't be given just as much consideration as the perspective of a believer. Nonbelievers deserve an equal voice. That's why many come here. To let their voice be heard.

I was raised VERY Christian (Evangelical) and VERY religious...then one day I started thinking for myself. While I can no longer call myself a Christian or even remotely religious, I think it's interesting to debate and talk about it, and I think that questions and issues NEED to be raised by anyone who considers herself a Christian. If you're just blindly following and have never really thought about why, are you really a Christian? or are you just following in the path of those before you? Shouldn't you be one because you've really thought about it and completely believe everything?

I'm sure it was in err, but Muslims, Jews, Hindus, pagans, etc are not Christians and they have religion.
But to answer the questions. The atheists are paranoid that the Christians are going to try and force their beliefs on the world through the (American) government. They want people to be tolerant and know that there are other beliefs out there that are deserving of respect even though it may go against someone Else's belief.

Why is it that you christians are arrogant enough to think that the words Religion and Spirituality only belong to you?
There are plenty of us who believe.. just not in YOUR god, and we, along with those who believe in no god have AS MUCH right to be here as you do.
Why do you spend so much time being critical of those who have a religious or spiritual life that is DIFFERENT from yours?

As long as Christianity, as well as several of the other "ultimate truths", have as their end and gleefully sought after goal, the END OF THE WORLD, and as long as they believe that their rights are being violated if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their god down every ones throat, you will have to put up with us being in your face. Why should we abandon a forum where we can let you know that you will not be allowed to carry out the silly "End Times" rubbish that you seem to forget would include the rest of us.

First of all, not only christians are religious. Second, it's open to everyone. And third, most non-religious people were once religious but came to a realization about religion - which they are here to share to keep other people from falling into the same traps they may have.

There are more non-believers (ME!) because we are winning! We are bringing the religious slaves into the light of science, evolution and atheism!
No, seriously, I'm here because its just so much fun tormenting Christians. Its just so funny how they all believe in this fairy tale crap, but don't even know WHY and cannot even answer simple questions ABOUT their beliefs.
