The training wheels are in this particular order because the salt takes the bite out of the tequila and the lemon takes the bitter of the tequila off your pallet. Cheers!

the salt is to take the initial bite of tequila away as is the lime or lemon shot at the end,, when I feel like doing it that way, ( mostly because I like tequila,) I will run the lime or lemon wedge around the top of the shot glass before filling

Through away the lime and salt and go buy some good tequila. That way you don't need peripherals. I suggest Cabo Wabo or Patron. Enjoy!
