About a day. We made a fuss over them becoming Big Boys and not needing a baby's bottle anymore. Once they figured out they were growing up, they thought that was cool, and they were fine with it.
Be patient. The milk is eventually more important than the vessel it comes in.

Some will fuss alright! I would have thought they would have had u get him on the sippy when he turned one, but its only 3 months later. I would try to do half and half, like for a few days to a week. One time bottle, next time sippy. Then use the bottle only twice a day the next week, then only once the third week, then all gone... He still may fuss, but it might make the transition easier. The whole "no more bottle" from the dr. doesn't have to be taken as literally as throwing all his bottles out and not giving him a chance to adjust, one month in the scheme of his life isn't gonna make a bit of difference. Some kids flat out can't drink from a sippy right away, they require much more suction than bottles, try the soft cap, silicone actually Nuby sippy cup, I know lots of kids that needed that to convert.

My daughter was angry for about 2 or 3 days, but she got over it quickly. She was also not overly attached to it either. She was drinking out of a sippy cup starting at 6 months.
With my boys, I took the bottles away and hid them the night before their first birthday and they never saw them again. They didn't care. They loved their sippy cups and never fussed over the missing bottle!

My son didn't fuss at all, sorry I can't be of to much help. He is probably just be fussy to try to get you to give in, so stand your ground although it is not fun with a fussy baby, it is great in the end.

My son who is 16 now had a bottle forever it seemed like, he also got "bottle-rot", on his teeth and had to have them capped all in silver, it was his security blanket so i only put water in it and milk in his cup, wasn't to painful on either one of us.
