Someone asked me out, and I told him I would think about it because I didn't think my parents would let me, but he seemed interested in me and I think I want to give it a chance.... so how do you ask for permission? By the way, I'm in high school, so I'm not that young.

Are your parents REALLY strict? you know what i did to go on a date when i was in highschool? I would just tell them. i would say "hey mom i'm going on a date this friday" and i would kinda just wait for a response. if they get CRAZY on you saying you can't go and such ask why, and if they say your too young ask them when its going to be okay to date, because you gotta date some day. But seriously, your parents are in control untill you turn 18 so your gonna have to listen to them. Just dont be scared when you ask them. Be straightforward and act like a adult. Impress them with your mature side. haha. I always tricked my parents that way when i was in highschool, maybe it'll work for you! And please don't lie to them, thats the worse idea ever. IT may work..but karma's a b*tch...good luck my dear! hope you go on your date, and be safe!

Can you have an honest and frank discussion with your parents? See what they think a good age to start dating would be and if you are not old enough yet get some more info. Like, see if they would be comfortable if you went on a group date. Or ask them if there is anything you could do to change their minds, such as demonstrating that you can be trusted. Or ask them to let you do a trial date (tell them where you are going, when you will be home, have the guy pick you up so they can meet him) to see how it goes.

Open and honest communication might be the key to your situation!

Also, depending on your relationshiip with your parents, maybe approach your mom first, get her on your side and then go to your dad.

Good luck!

My kids were not allowed to date until 16 years old. If you are that old and you would like to date this young man, interoduce him to mom and dad first by having him come over to help you with homework. Less threatening and they will get a chance to see his manors? Great way to have you parents lower the walls on the dating issue when they have seen the guy in there home helping you with your grades? Good Luck

Hmm. My first date was with someone I was already going out with. Can't you like say "hey there this boy that i like and i think he likes me too. he asked me on a date. can i go?" sort of deal? I mean come on parents know it's bound to happen someday. You have to experience life sometime right? I say just talk to them. You never know what they'll say. Parents are always full of surprises. Mine were and still are.

well, I totally understand how hard it is....i stressed out over that the first time a guys asked me out cuz my parents are totally against dating!!! Even tho I'm an adult they think it's wrong(wierd i know) So I say just sit down with them and keep in casual while explaining you'd like to get to know this guy, and maybe have him meet them so they feel better about it...good luck!

You should tell your parents that you and a boy in your class are working on a biology project and wants to discuss some things with him. If it's OK to discuss it with him in the privacy of a movie theater. I don't think they will have any problems with that.

So am I and I can tell you honestly, the only way to do that is to just prove to your parents that you are responsible and that you can handle yourself.
