I know this sounds stupid, but the past month or more, I can't sleep more than 2 hours straight...Everytime I turn off the light/TV, close my eyes, drift off...BAM, my heart starts pounding & my thought turn to horrible scary images...It is exhausting & depressing. :( My chest is having pain bc its overworked from this.
( I don't play with the occult or anything like that, and the house is not haunted...not sure I believe in that stuff..)
I also am getting more terrifying nightmares.
Help!

Lack of sleep will make you hallucinate and can cause anxiety. What came first, the images/nightmares or lack of sleep?
Have you tried over the counter sleeping pills? Also, there is a sleepy time tea with Valerian you can buy over the counter.
I recommend you see a doctor. A month is a long time to go without proper sleep.

You don't sound stupid. If I was having this problem I'd want an answer too.
You may have an anxiety disorder. Or if you are facing some sort of overwhelming stress in, school, work, relationships this could be another reason. Does it help to keep the TV on? If so, do that. I've known people who sleep with their TV on and can't sleep any other way.
If it continues go and see your doctor and tell her/him what you are experiencing. There are sometimes simple answers for things like this.

Sounds like your anxiety (which you admit) is leading you into panic attacks. You need some of the new anti-anxiety drugs psychology is producing. Since the terrorist attacks, the whole country is under a general state of anxiety. Most don't admit it. First, call the doctor you chose and ask if he believes in treating panic attacks with anti-anxiety drugs or you could waste your money by going in just to be given a lecture from some old fogey.
Hope that helps.

My guess would be an anxiety disorder.
I had the same thing, and was later diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It's not uncommon for panic attacks to occur during sleep. I had difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep because I'd have nightmare of dying horrible deaths.
It's best to get down to your doctor ASAP and talk to him/her about your symptoms. Only your doctor will know for sure what's going on, and will be able to fully help.

Best wishes and take care.

We all have insomnia and anxiety at times. It is important to first try to deal with your stresses. Try the normal stuff, diet, exercise, prayer, meditation, counseling. If it persists, I would see a doctor, but don't wait too long because your lack of sleep may already be taking its toll on you for you to have physical reactions. Hope you feel better.

If you think you are imaging evil beings, then you need to see your Dr to get a mental health evaluation. Serious mental illness often begins between ages 15-25 and no one needs the type problems you are describing. get some help & good luck

I think you should go and see you're local GP. Insomnia can lead to people imagining strange things. Don't be too worried though, once you get the help you need, you will start to feel better.

well think.... are you stressed?, Is it a new house? Played any creepy computer games?,Read a scary or sad book? For me when I was little I would get horrible nightmares. But then I realized i was in control and I just squeezed my eyes tight opened them and woke up and was asleep again in minutes. If this keeps happening consider going to a therapist because it may be an underlying issue.
Good Luck and remember you are in charge!

Lack of sleep alone can cause delusions and anxiety. See your dr. Maybe they can prescribe something to get you back into a regular sleep pattern.

Sounds like night terrors with panic attacks. I suggest making an appointment with an psychiatrist. When one is not getting enough sleep you will have hallucinations. I strongly suggest getting with a doctor soon.
