How do you manage your hair on a regular basis? I have been searching for a creme-like leave in conditioner to make it easier to comb but have not found one and it is a bit painful to comb. How do you manage your hair on a daily basis?

I've been natural for the past 3 years. One thing I noticed about your question is that you comb your hair!?! I personally don't comb UNLESS my hair is completely wet in the shower while I'm no-pooing. This way, you're not ripping your hair out, less breakage. I think you should try very gently finger combing your hair. By our hair being in the natural state, you have to be very gentle with the maintenance. One ingredient I think every natural woman will tell you is on her shopping list is shea butter. Some will try a combination of shea, cocoa, mango, or shealoe. These butters make your hair very soft and manageble. As for a thick leave in, why not make your own? Add a little conditioner to a spray bottle, maybe 2-3 ounces, more if your hair is thick. Then fill the bottle with water. Try the Suave Naturals or VO5 line. This solution will help you tremendously.

I use some stuff called shine something, it is in a silver/gray tube and has a pink lid, called leave in conditioning creme (i bought it at walmart or target) careful not to get it on your scalp cuz I noticed it leaves a build up there, but on your hair it makes it easy to comb thru. Put it on right after you towel dry your hair and I sometimes mix it with frizz ease serum from john Frieda. A little of both should help you out. good luck

i don't use perms so i know how you feel. but i do hair so it's easy for me to manage my hair. First you should pick your hair products and stick with them.I would use tea tree oil or pink oil moisturizer, second if you use hot combs then use one don't be afraid of the heat make sure the person don't burn your hair, if you don't use hot combs then the tea tree oil or moisturizer would make it alot easier. Last i braid up my hair or i put micros in. when you have natural thick hair then it's easy to put certain styles that look right in.You could also sport the natural afro. put a couple of braids in the front and let the back puff out it's a cute look. good luck on your look. i have fun experiencing with my hair i love natural hair, o yhea if you want to spice up your color without using dye, [i gotta get ghetto] use kool-aid, it really work i use it anytime i want to change my look with a new color your hair stays natural and you don't damage it with chemicles!

Don't despair! You have so many options. I've learned A LOT about black hair care from the discussion board at Black Hair Media:

http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/

Please check it out. The people on the board share tips, review products, and share their experiences with all hair types.

From my own personal experience, these have been good "creamy" leave-ins for me and my hair type:

Miss Jessie's Curly Buttercreme (rather expensive, but they are having a 2 for 1 sale): http://www.missjessies.com
Carol's Daughter Hair Milk: http://www.carolsdaughter.com/
Fantasia IC Shine Cream
Neutrogena Triple Moisture Leave-In
Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioner

GOOD LUCK!

I use Doo Gro Lotion or Luster's Pink Oil Moistuzing Lotion to my hair to make it easier to comb without excessive hair breakage. I also spray my hair with Isoplus Oil Sheen Hair Spray daily for shine. I roll up my hair nightly to stop hair breakage.

Try Luster's Pink oil moisturizer hair lotion. it works great and makes your hair soft and when I use it for my hair (which is naturally African) I can comb it a lot easier.

Well, I'm certainly not African so I can't really help. But, personally, I've always preferred it when black women have really short haircuts. If I was black, that's what I'd do to my hair. It would be much easier to manage and it would look really good!!

There is an amazing forum where there are some sisters who do natural hair. Visit them they are great ! You want your hair to be softer it sounds like you could use some ghassoul mud for your hair, to make it smooth and deep conditioned. Visit this forum at www.longhaircareforum.com

Hope this helps
