In Irish the word for 'One' when counting 1,2,3 is 'Aon'
When prefixed a 'h' is added 'Number One' is 'Uimhir a haon'
If 'The' comes before it as in 'The one person' a 't' comes before it - an t-aon duine'
When referring to 'one person' or one day we say 'duine amháin' or 'Lá amháin' which more literally translates to 'a single (one) person or day'
The sentence structure in Irish makes it difficult for it to be translated automatically but there is a live Irish forum in which volunteers give translations although the sites warns that the translations cannot be guaranteed.
There is also an Irish online dictionary into which you can type the words in Irish or English for translation, the links are below;

jonathanz you didn't mention which Gaelic? there is Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic. I speak Irish Gaelic here. Uimhir aon is number one in Irish Gaelic. Kathrina R haon is wrong. Its aon

Uimhir a haon is the perfect answer. "Uimhir aon" is completely WRONG whoever thinks that.Trust me. I speak Irish as my first language. I don't think I would reccomend online translators as the pronunciation in Irish and most of the celtic languages is quite astract compared to other languages. It's the kind of ting you have to hear to be able to learn.
