Only you can fix your credit, I had to clean up my report this year and it was easier than expected. You will have to call all three bearueaus ( Experian,Equifax and TransUnion). If you have itmes that are paid then call the beaureas.A great way to raise your score is to pay some credit card balances lower. The less you owe on the cards the higher your score will raise. If you have too many credit cards then close some of the accounts.Remember your score is affected by history, longevity or length of life of cards, debt to available balance ratio and derogatory reports. To achieve the maximum score you would have to have long time credit cards with low balances,no late payments and no derogatory reports to obtain the best score.Good luck on your new home.

As the person above mentioned, you need to contact the three credit-reporting bureaus (Transunion, Equifax, and Experian) (google their numbers if you need to). .

you are entitled to one free credit report each year (*I don't know if that's one free from each of the above or one from one of them (all three should pretty much show the same things, tho).

Then, once you get your credit report, look through it to see what it says. If there's anything in there that's wrong, you are entitled to put in an entry answering/disputing their information (i.e. if you didn't make a payment or stopped payment or something, maybe it's because their merchandise was faulty and you complianed but they didn't take the item back, etc.). .

Also, you can find out what creditors are out there that you still owe money too, and you can contact them all (one at a time), and arrange to make payments (some kind of payment schedule, etc.). . to make good on what you owe.

Also, if you have credit cards, pay them down as soon as you can. Always pay more than the minimum balance and make sure to never be late on a payment (this goes not just for credit cards, but also on your utility bills (phone, electric, gas, etc.).

If you don't have a credit card, then you probably should go and get a secured one (meaning, you plunk down $100 or so and are able to use that credit card to purchase up to $100 worth of stuff, and then pay it off quickly, etc.

By doing this, you can soon have a much higher credit limit, and it will be a regular card, not a card secured by money you have put down as collateral.

Hope this helps.

good luck and God bless you

Do it yourself. I've been improving mine for 2 years now. There are quick stuff you can do and the obvious ones-- time and on time payments.

1) Get current on all your accounts. If you're behind on payments, this hurts BAD.

2) If you're overlimit on any accounts, call them up and negotiate a payment plan to get under. Often times they cut fees (late fees, overlimit fees, and APR) if you can commit to 6 payments by phone, over the next 6 months.

3) Pay any outstanding collections.

4) Order your reports from all 3 bureas, and dispute every single bad item on there, whether its true or not. Claim you didn't pay late that month, that the collection is not yours, etc. You'd be suprised how many accounts are willing to change the late pays to "ON TIME" or how many paid collection accoutns will let it be deleted like it never existed. IT WORKS.

ALL 3 bureaus will let you dispute online. It only takes 30 days to get a full update on what will be deleted or what's valid.

5) Pay down all credit cards to below 33% of their limits. This makes up a big chunk of your score too, and its immediately affected when the balance goes down.

6) DO NOT Open new accounts as this shortens the average history. If you have LOTS Of avilable credit, consdier closing only NEWER accounts. DO NOT go get any more inquiries until you're ready to buy a house.

Sounds like you need the peace of mind that comes with a money back guarantee. Notice how some above said they had been working on their credit for 2 years. Some things are better left to the professionals. They should also show significant results within 90 days.

The finance guy's answer replaced into extremely good. basically to characteristic to it somewhat: The longer it is going w/o reporting the a lot less that's going to galvanize your rankings. in case you pay it off your rankings will drop before everything. A % of your rankings is depending off of recent series pastime. Paying off a collection is recent series pastime. do not difficulty, that's going to bypass up w/i the subsequent month or 2. basically keep in mind that no matter if you pay it off they don't ought to remove the tradeline out of your credit. they're going to coach a nil stability yet nonetheless go away the account there. in case you compromise the account for a decrease quantity have them deliver you a letter putting forward the settled quantity and when you pay it have them deliver you some thing declaring the account is paid in finished and save it for you files. One very last element, do not anticipate that in 7 or 10 years that's going to easily fall off of your record and each little thing is fantastic. i have seen series businesses promote a collection on 3 hundred and sixty 5 days 6 and it stay with yet another company for decades.

DONT PAY ANYONE - ill tell you how to do it for free.
1. go to www.annualcreditreport.com and get ALL 3 credit bureaus.
2. dispute all negative credit
3. Find who you owe the money to and pay it.
4. then dipute the information again if it is verified after you pay - some collection companies do not respond if they are paid and that would mean it would come off.
5. buy your house

There are numerous ways to do this. Legally you can not have legit items removed. You can work some of those to your favor. I personally review and help people i know correct thier reports and / or dispute information that is incorrect.
Most companies that do this are scam artists. Legally you can not pay another to fix or repair your credit.
The best I could ever do is to be a consultant and give you ideas on what to do.

No one can "clean up" your credit report if it is accurate.

Except you over several years.
