root canal is the cleaning &shaping of the root canal . so that canal of the root should be filled with some filling material which will ease ur pain and will save ur tooth in future .If the tooth is fully anesthesize (numb) then u will feel a bit of pain initially but it will gradually fades off .so no worries ! no pain no gain ! all the best !

with mine they drilled a big hole in the tooth, took the root out of the tooth and then put a fake tooth on, a month later they took off the fake tooth and drilled away what little of my real tooth was left and put a permanent fake tooth on
I had a VERY sick tooth, so the inital drilling (even with pain killers) was very very painful but once they got the root out, I couldnt feel a thing, and everything they did after taking the root out, they didnt even numb me for

If you have a good dentist, then, No it is not painful. They fully numb the area to be drilled. The worst parts about it is the anxiety/worry about it and the sound of the drill. But it is painless.

they are going to drill into his roots and fill it up with a filling. you wont feel it because your mouth will be numb but after the extraction you will be in pain for a few days

No pain dude. Usually at least. Does the tooth hurt right now?? If it doesn't he probably won't feel any pain at all--during or after the procedure.
