No you can't, the chemicals in the dye might conflict with what you use with the relaxer. And make sure whoever does the relaxer is an expert. My sister's hair fell out and she did it herself and she dyed her hair before.

You should relax the hair first. You can dye the hair 2-3 days after relaxing, but should wait 7-10 days to relax after dying with a shampoo in between. I didn't wait and my hair fell out rinsing out the relaxer a few yrs ago.

Relax first then dye 10 days later. Keep a good heavy conditioner on hand to be used once a week. In HS a few years back I once relaxed it and then two weeks later highlighted the front of my head with chunky highlights and my hair was so DRY afterwards. Especially because I always used a lot of heat (blowdryer and curling iron) Please make sure you buy the extra products you will need to keep your hair healthy. Ever since then, I have never put permanent dye in my hair, only the relaxer. But good luck to you!

I would advise you not do this, ultimately your hair will fall-out. If you must I recommed following Jessie's advice, except I would wait a full month between relaxing and dying to allow my hair regain its balance and moisture.

Another option is to use a wig. I've had every process known to man and several at once. Now-a-days I have head full of healty unprocessed hair and when I want a change, I use wigs. They're inexpensive, low maintence, you can keep your own hair healthy and beautiful and wigs offer much greater flexibility than cutting or dying your own hair.

Oh Lord No!!!

You can hardly do anything with your hair a few days before you have it relaxed.

Years ago, when I'd started doing my own hair, I washed my hair two days before I relaxed it. My scalp was BURNING!!!

If you cherish your hair and your scalp, please relax the hair first, then color it. You may even want to go to a professional to have this done the first time around.

No they say that when those two chemicals are mixed in your hair can literally melt.. so you can be left with no hair if it goes bad. Dye it a few weeks after its relaxed.

Consider this. Hair is like fabric. the newer hair @ the scalp is like hercalon, tough, strong. Depending on how long your hair is,the ends can be like fine silk.brittle, tears easily. Your hair can only take so much abuse before it will disintegrate. The longer your hair the higher the risk.

Its highly recommended that you dont.

Both of those processes damage your hair significantly, so you shouldnt do either unless you really really want to, its up to you

good luck :]
