I use to have two parakeets but then I gave them to my grandma, because my mom said that they were too messy. My grandma has had them for about two years now and they are very spoil. She always lets them out of their cage to fly around then when they are done they fly right back into their cage, but everytime my brothers and I go to her house the birds start flying really fast past our face. I swear I nearly felt one of their wings touch my nose. I noticed that they do this especially when my grandma hugs me cause I am thirteen and still my grandma's baby. Do you think they act this way cause they are jealous?

Most all birds will get very possessive and jealous of their human, especially when the human loves them as much as your grandmother obviously does. Some of the larger parrots will actually attack someone who is getting too close to their human!!! When they bond with their owner, they see their owner as their mate, and most all birds only have one mate all of their life!!! They protect and feed their mate, and will do the same for their human....Birdman

I have a Red Lory, 3 cats and a dog. When my husband and I hug or I pick up a cat, "Baby", the bird, screeches and flies onto my shoulder. Yes, she is jealous! She wants her kiss, kiss, kiss, too!! She thinks she rules the roost! The dog is jealous and the cats are jealous. They just show it a little differently.

Yes, they do get jealous. They love being the center of their flock. Don't be discouraged they just want YOU to give them attention now.

I think so, just like any other person or animal. They also could just be very protective or simply want attention from you.

They are very inteligent animals, but that doesnt happen. It is possible that the bird can show some signsof disgust, but they dont care that much as long as you spend time with him playing and having fun with him.Dont worry!
