Every day at 1:00a.m. my dog barks as loud as he can. I take him out and bring him back in. Then as soon as I lay down, he barks again? Could there be someone lurking around my house at night?

Maybe one of your neighbors are coming home at this time. My dog likes to bark every morning when my neighbor gets her newspaper delivered.

I have played the radio next to her at night, and that has stopped her from doing it as much. You might want to try that.

Dogs bark for a number of reasons. Yes, there could be a person out around your home, that depends on conditions in your neighborhood. Dogs also bark at animal intruders and to get your attention. To find out what is going on, you could check out your yard with a flashlight or inspect for signs of opossums or raccoons on your property. That time of night is perfect for them. You may have to bring your dog in at night if you are getting legal complaints,l don't know how well that would work for you, but i hope I have helped some. If you can remove the reason for barking, you may stop it altogether.

Well, you have to figure out what he is barking at. Lights of cars driving by, noises, maybe he sees ghosts for all we know. I suggest setting up a video camera and seeing what he does during the night. Is he up a lot looking around, or is he generally a sound sleeper. He may be hearing things. A sound machine may help that. Or if he is seeing things outside, make sure to block out the lights from cars driving by or make sure he cannot see critters moving around outside. Maybe he just wants to play. In that case, he may be getting too much sleep during the day, then. Try keeping him more active from morning to evening (playing with him, making it a point to interrupt his napping) and he may sleep more "like a rock" at night.

Overall, if this doesn't work, maybe consult your vet about it? They may make some sort of a sleeping pill for dogs if it is getting to be a problem!

GOOD LUCK!

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/zkYaQ

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Dogs usually bark to alert you to something they can hear / see, as a protective mechanism.

Since it seems to be happening at the same exact time every night, I would surmise that one of your neighbors works a late shift, and he's reacting to a voice outside, or the sound of a car door opening or shutting.

There's probably a reason, since he does this at the same time every night. Does one of your neighbors make a noise at 1 am that you can't hear, but he can? Are you near a train yard? Critters in the attic?

There could be. But since it is at the very same time every night, maybe he is hearing something from far away that you cannot hear. Some towns test their warning sirens in the middle of the night.

They make a shock collar that will shock him when he barks. It may be other dogs in the neighborhood, or a sound that he hears around that time every night. I would discipline him for barking at that time.

It could be possible that he just loves food, my dog is a food-a-holic, he wakes me up at 12 every night for a night time snack! =)
