First, do research on what type of dog you want. You can always read about them on the internet and learn about them, but the best way is to find a dog show in your local area. Going to the show and actually talking with a breeder about the traits of dogs and what type of dog you are looking for will VASTLY help you in making your decision.

Second, adopting a dog from your local humane society will possibly save that dog's life!!!!!

Sammy: Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Motzie and Madison: Golden Retrievers

Those are our dogs.

Good luck to you !

You can get your dog from a breeder. Just make sure you are getting it from a good breeder. You can find information on how to know if they are a good breeder, or bad breeder online. But the BEST place to get a dog is from an animal shelter or an animal rescue group. These dogs make great companions, and they are GREATLY in need of homes. Try going to petfinder.com to look at dogs online that need homes, and you can also find the animal shelters that are in your area so you can go there and see the dogs. NEVER get a dog from a pet store. Those puppies Usually come from puppy mills. Just make sure you are prepared to get a dog, and can meet the demands. Good Luck, i hope you find a nice companion.

We get a stray here about 2 times a month. A new one showed up here last night. Sometimes you can pick them up by the side of the road. We got our last dog that way. She was just a pup. We thought she belonged to someone, turns out she didn't. The kids fell in love with her, so we were stuck with a female dog. We finally gave her away but not before she had puppies. We now have one of her puppies. The other two disappeared. The one we have now is going to be having puppies soon by the stray dog that showed up here about 5 months ago. You can also get one at the pet store, or the local pound.

I got my dog from the Humane Society and she is the best dog Ive ever had. I got her as a puppy and paid under $100 for her. She had all her shots, had a micro-chip and was fixed. She is very loyal and sweet. I would research what kind of dog would be best for you, ex. big, small, and what breed. Mine is a pit/lab mix (they think) and she is great. Its all about how you raise your dog and how you treat it, that is what determines its temperament and personality. Good luck!

I find that shelter dogs are sooooooooo sweet , they are amazing. My dogs are from breeders.

Either way, youll always get a sweetie pie.

Breeders are usually more expensive especially if they are registered and purebred

shelter dogs and rescue dogs arent as much but still just as loveable as ones from breeders!

A shelter, that is your best bet. I would stay away from the pet shops, though. You don't know how many of those little pups came from puppy mills. Plus, they are really expensive and they rarely sell cute little mutts. At the shelter, you can find all sorts of cute little "treasures" that were discarded by their owner and are only looking for someone to love them. It's hard to find puppies there, but there are some there that are older, just as cute and are already potty-trained. Good luck!

Personally, get one from the animal shelter. They are always running out of space for those dogs and then they always end up putting them to sleep. You never ever want to get one from a pet shop. They come with diseases. NO JOKE!

You should check the animal shelter. There are so many homeless animals that are going to be killed simply because there are too many animals and not enough homes, which is why you shouldn't buy from a breeder or pet store.

you can get a dog from looking in the newspaper. I think it is best to get one from a shelter because there are plenty of cute and cuddily dogs that need a home!

I got my heeler/bluetick mix from a rescue and my heeler/border collie from the pound/local shelter. They are both wonderful dogs, and I highly reccommend going one of those routes.
