Because he's 16 months old!
He's found something he likes and it tastes better (sweeter) than dinner, wouldn't you want it if you had the choise? You need to be firm with him, hide the tin if necessary otherwise it will become a hard habit to break. You will get a lot of tantrums and it wont be easy, i know because i had the same with my little boy. He's almost 3 and i've only just got him eating fruit!

You mean he has gone from his pushchair into his cot ,was he sleeping in the pushchair? and he prefer biscuit's to his dinner, isn't he a clever child , HIDE THE TIN and give him one when he has his dinner eaten , he know's the biscuit's are sweeter and the dinner is more savoury.

My little boys two now and he was the same at one point biscuit was all he would ask for day and night lol. I started " empty plate prize " when we go shopping he chooses his favourite biscuits but he only gets one if he has an empty plate. It works for me he still asks but he eats his dinner up most of the time x good luck

Children are naturally attracted to sweet foods (easy calories) but the fruit and veg. are best.
It's not easy, boy's need a firm hand at first (Boys are bad at first but get better, girls start good but get worse!), As others have said 'hid the tin'; better yet, don't buy them.

The sugar...it's like an addiction to Small children so find healthy alternatives...low sugar special baby ones from Boots I think.....or make dinners a little sweeter by adding a pinch of sugar here and there.....It's just the sugar..plus babies love having a chew....give him more bread like meals...soup and bread...a pinch of sugar and your good to go....

Don't give him biscuits. Be kind, but firm. You are the boss, he should be eating healthily.
