a comment that you put to a question? I think it's cool that people (not all but most) can bypass our differences and still treat eachother kindly and with respect. What'cha think?

actually i do. i comment on quite a few answers i get to my questions, regardless to whether i agree or disagree. and i love it when someone emails me with a response to my answer!

however i do have a pet peeve here, those people who show their email adress but dont confirm it. i go through and write some long comment and then it says "message did not go through, recipients email not confirmred" all i can do is growl and sigh... =P

I get a lot of emails, and I like the interaction. They are not always nice, the Muslims harass me all the time with spam, and I have had one death threat, but in all I really like the interaction. There are some great people on here from all different religious backgrounds.

Just last night, literally within a minute of each other, I got two IMs. One was an IM from someone condemning me for being an atheist and telling me I was going to hell. The other was from someone wanting to discuss evolution, who did not believe in macro evolution but accepted microevolution, and wished to talk with respect.

I spared no quarter for the attacker -- my response was swift, stern, and absolute.

I spent over an hour talking with the person who wanted to discuss, and we explored evolution and possibilities until she realized that macroevolution isn't really the huge issue that the literal creationists make it out to be and realized that both types of evolution are possible and plausible. I won't say she believes in macro now, but she actually was willing to learn from my story and to share her own story.

I was witnessed to last night, but not by the one who mentioned God.

I totally agree with you. The few questions I have asked have been returned with heartfelt answers and some of the people who answered also wrote me a comment. I have been treated and treat others with the utmost respect.

Thanks for an uplifting, nice question.

Have a great day!

It depends. I have had some good discussions with theists and atheists on here. Some theists feel it's necessary to tell argue as to whether or not God is real. I don't like those emails. I like the ones where you discuss the intricacies of the philosophies and try to explore the common ground.

Yeah, I emailed two people today, I may make a connection to one as we have been talking about the same things in various answers.

I had great difficulty doing this when I was angry with this man who believed it was OK to rip open peoples guts and feed on thier intestines.

But of course, I learned to respect he has different views to what I do in life and I let him get on with it.

Of course. I have some very pleasant correspondence with Christians, Muslims, Pagans and atheists/agnostics because of that.

I also love it when someone writes me something really foul and hateful, as it will inevitably be in response to something they've richly deserved, and I'll know I've hit my target. I don't reply to them.

Oh yes. Most of the emails I've gotten have been quite nice, actually.
