It depends on the personality of the cat. In general, if you raise them as indoor cats, they'll be contented to be indoor cats. Neutered or spayed cats are happier to stay indoors than those that haven't been neutered. If you adopted an older cat that's always been an indoor cat, it will probably not want to go out.

First of all, if you get a kitten, most will adjust to indoor life. I have 2 Bengals and 2 Siamese and neither one has ever went outside. THey seem fine with it. Word of warning though, if an inside cat does get out, it will really scare them and they may run off. I harness train all my cats, so that going outside isn't a big adventure for them, Purebred cats are a joy to own and most will love you back.
Good luck on your kitty search, there are many beautiful breeds out there,

Any breed of cat would be chuffed to stay indoors in the event that they are familiar with it from a youthful age. Neutering and spaying the cat will help even added because it is the urge to reproduce with and detect a cat of the alternative intercourse to mate with that generally reasons a cat to wish to get outdoors.

All of them can be very happy indoors, just make sure you give them stimulation such as cat dancers, bird feeders outside windows make great "cat TV", they love high places so a cat tree will be great also.
