Jelly has gelatin or pectin in it which makes it thick and jelly-like. Jam is made from cooking the fruit down and adding sugar to it until it is thick. It takes less time and ingredients to make jam, since it is just the fruit and sugar. Jelly takes longer because you have to let the gelatin or pectin set up as well

Jelly is an extracted liquid product that has gelatin added to it. Jam is more like a fermented mixture of the whole product.

Jam tends to have seeds and is made with the whole fruit. Jelly is made from the juice and has more pectin.

Jelly has all the good stuff squished out and the resulting liquid is made into jelly. Lam is made in a similar fashion but the leave in the lumps. Usually called Preserves... Lumpy is the way to go...

ok jelly is just a big glob made from the juices of the fruit and geletin. jam is the juices and the crushed fruit with gelatin such as sure gel. in my opinion jam is better especially if it is home made. i made about 25 pints of jam this summer.

jelly is more bouncy and has a smoother texture. jam is flat and sometimes has seeds and is basically more natural.
