No you can't. Not only do both parents need to be registered but now days you need the breeder to check the box saying there are no restrictions on the registration. Both parents can be registered dogs by the AKC and the breeder still has the option of checking a box saying that any puppies of the dog you are buying can't be registered. It is to prevent dogs of pet quality from being used for breeding and is a very good thing. It helps keep the breed standards. For instance in some breeds a white spot on the chest would be an undesirable trait. By checking the box on the registration the breeder can make sure any pups from this dog will not be registered.Sometimes breeders don't issue papers until you prove the dog has been spayed or neutered. The only way you can register your dog is if you received a litter paper when you bought the dog and it is still up to the breeder what privleges go with it.

Not with the AKC. To join the AKC, both the parents of the dog must be AKC registered. There are some lesser 'fake' paper sites that will 'register' any dog for a fee, but no responsible person would buy such a dog as 'papered'.

Unless you are planning on showing your dog, there is no reason that he needs to be papered. Only top-quality dogs should be bred (and this is usually determined by being a champion at an AKC show), so breeding is also out of the question. Be happy with your dog, get him/her fixed, and have a great pet. : )

Registering a dog is the way that you GET papers. Depending on what breed it is you will have to check with the organization that you want to register it with. You will most likely be required to show papers for both of it's parents to prove that she is indeed a purebred.

Unless it is a breed that has a registry based on physical description/characteristics, no. Some breeds (most of the breeds not recognized by the AKC) have registrations that allow registry based strictly on meeting the physical characteristics of the breed. Most though, require, that animals are bred from registered parents, and are not allowed to be registered without proof of their parentage and paperwork showing such.

You have to have papers from the breeder in order to properly register any dog.

No--unless you mean to register the dog via licencing etc. But the type of registering you seem to be referring to is for pure bred dogs that are monitored for the standard of their breed and this is strictly followed.

Registered for what? Without papers you can't register with AKC but you can with your local city, town or county as long as it has had all its vaccinations.

You cant with the AKC unless it is an import with registration papers from the native country. You can however, register with the CKC and the NKC with out papers. I am unsure of the procedure for registering, but I just registered my Crested With both the CKC and NKC, but they have AKC papers. I do know with the NKC you have to have them certified by a Vet. I had to do this with mine, but with the CKC I just submitted my AKC papers.

Nope, you are SOL as far as any reputable registry goes.

There are sham registries that will sell you papers, but they don't mean anything. You could register your bird with them and claim it was a labrador.
