finally, a TKD friend telling you to do something other than TKD. finally some sense in the world.

I suggest Muay Thai. I am 6'2" and use my knees very well in close range. you will learn great use of KNEES and ELBOWS. why limit yourself to only kicks and punches, when knees and elbows do more damage with less energy. extend your self, and learn kicks, punching, elbows, knees. Muay Thai is awesome for tall guys.

There isn't a Martial Art that is good for a tall person, there are NO Martial Arts that are a "best fit" for certain types of people.

What many people fail to realize about Martial Arts is that there isn't a particular "brand" that is a "best fit".

There IS NOT a Martial Art that works for people with SPECIFIC body characteristics (height, weight, body type, gender, etc.).

just because your friend tells you to study Judo doesn't mean you're gonna like it, or that it's gonna work for you.

Only YOU can make that decision for yourself by watching the class to see how they work, then take some trial classes to find out if you want to enroll in the class.

Kick boxing (american or Muy Thai both spar, teach practial skill and use a variety of attack ranges and attacks), boxing (great, maybe the best punching techniques, practical), American Kenpo Karate (they tailor the system to you - in a good school), aikido (size... really shouldn't matter there), Southern Style Kung Fu (I'm not sure about the practical side, depends upon the school), Tai Chi (height does not matter), Arnis or Escrima(the reach actually helps), Kenjutsu (reach helps)... my best advice is discover what you want. Do you want discipline, forms, and flash? Do you want practical fighting skills? Go check the schools out near you as the instructor has a HUGE impact on how the art is taught.
Best of luck to you...

Tae Quon Do, Karate, Kung Fu, and similar are all garbage. You can reference UFC 1 if there is any doubt. Tall people make good strikers due to their long reach. Muay Thai, American Boxing, and kickboxing are all good striking arts. Muay Thai is probably the best overall choice because you will learn to use your knees effectively. Knees, more than any other strike, favors a tall person because it is virtually impossible for someone shorter than you to land a knee to the face even in the thai clinch. There are of course exceptions such as Wanderlei Silva, v. Quinton Jackson in PRIDE Final Conflict 2003. Actually many of Wanderlei's opponents are exceptions.

Do some research on Diesel Noi. He was a Muay Thai fighter in 1970's and 1980's. He's around 6'1 which is much taller than most averave Thai males. He won two of biggest and most respected title in Thailand and he was basically "forced to retire" because no one would want to fight him.

With your long reaches, you want to find something that will allows you to keep your opponent far so you can pick them apart with long range attack or use your height to beat them in clinch fight.

Judo isn't bad but on ground your height basically doesn't really matter.

In end it's all up to what you perfer.

Judo calls for a lot of takedowns. The lower in gravity you are the better. Tae Kwon Do does a lot of kicking. You will have an advantage over others. Kung Fu is also good, especially Choy Li Fut. It is intense and a lot of fun.

Tae Kwon do is pretty good if your tall, as is wrestling. And Tae Kwon do is not pathetic. In UFC notice they usually do roundhouse kicks to the head - that would be a kick used in tae kwon doe. No style is pathetic, just the people who take it for a year and expect to be amazing at it.

Grappling tends to favor a low center of gravity. I think a striking are is better for tall people. Tae Kwan Do emphasizes kicking which will really take advantage of your long reach.

You take what really interests you. do a search and read about the arts you find interesting, then find a school near you that you will be dedicated to. Then apply your self fully.
