No, of course not. Why on earth would you want to do this? That's abuse by default. Cats need appropriate nutrition. Please talk to your vet.

By the way, if you choose a "mono-diet" for your cats, their only food should be raw meat (as all cats are carnivores- NOT vegetarians or omnivores). They will develop diabetes ingesting all of that starch, and they will also develop other malnutritional defects. Once again, please see your vet.

You mentioned this "diet" before and were very proud of it. And you mentioned that your cat is 15 years old. Remember? Now she is a kitten, Hmm...

No, you can not feed a cat just rice. A cat is a pure carnivore. He needs a very high amount of animal protein. Cats need NO carbohydrates. The only exeption is a very sick cat who's disgestive tract is os weakened that she can not break down proteine anymore. But even under these conditions rice is giving no longer than three or four days. Feeding grains like rice to a healthy cat or a kitten can lead to the following complications:
a) A very severe lack of protein
b) renal diseases
c) chronical inflammation
d) diseases of the digestive tract
e) severe food allergies
f) chronically constipation
g) behavioral problems - a malnourished cat is an unhappy cat who might develop even neurologic symptoms and and might pee or defaecate in inside of the house.
h) a whole range of degenerative diseases, including severe overweight, sometimes diabetes (here we are talking costs of much more than a bag of rice...)
i) early death due to malnutrition

Your rice diet might looks like a cheap and practical idea for a person who does not enjoy to pamper his cat and who wants to save money at all cost. Take it from me, this will brutally backfire. In 1-3 years you will have more vet bills than my entire family had in 10 years. Trust me. What your cat needs is high quality cat food. Nothing else. But do you care? I really hope that you will start to educate yourself, stop being so cheap, take responsibility for your animal and stop pester us with the same useless question. Waste of time! Get you act together. Up to the petshop and the vet!

Um. No. You can't feed any animal at any age just rice. If the kitten isn't lactose intolerant you can give it a little milk. Cat food for kittens that are 30 cents is nice also.

why would you want to do that? There is no reason for a kitten to be on a rice only diet. Cats need cat food with the correct proteins

Just rice? NO.

First, cats need a balanced diet just like humans, rice alone won't give them the nutrients they need.

Second, cats are carnivores- they need a diet high in lean protein. Kittens especially need a high quality, high protein diet in order to develop into strong, healthy cats!

Of course you can't. He needs a balanced diet. He needs milk and meat protein. He can't grow strong calcium rich bones and tissue on just rice. Why would you think he could? Maybe you should do some research on proper feeding or talk to your vet.

When my kitten was sick the vet said I could feed her rice and boiled chicken. She wasn't very fond of the rice though.

No, cats need more of a variety than that. Expecially kittens, they need a lot of nutrients that they can't get from rice. Plus, I don't know of many cats that will eat plain rice. .. ick.

No, you will have a cat that's malnourished unless you get a high quality cat food in her diet. Rice can cause constipation. My mom use to mix a little bit in with our one cats food when she got diarrhea.

cats are carnivores, they eat meat...not by choice necessarily, they were made to eat meat, it is how they get nutrition...eating meat is necessary for them to survive their whole system is made for digesting and using the energy provieded by meat. they are hunting machines because they were made to eat meat. this is how they were created by the maker of galaxies, who is much larger and wiser than we humans are, feed your kitten meat, (liver, cat food, kibbles are good for their teeth, they need the crunch to keep teeth clean) talk to your vet about feeding your kitten meat and a good cat diet.
everyone who answered so far says to see your vet and feed the cat meat/catfood, not even a human vegan can survive on rice for very long...don't kill your cat, feed him/her a cat diet.
