Of course it's possible, why wouldn't it be? It's like saying that someone with a head cold couldn't also have a broken leg--there's nothing about the first one that means the second one wouldn't be possible. Not that I'm saying you should necessarily believe his story, but there's no reason why someone with cancer couldn't also have heart problems.

Everything is possible because he might have had a heart condition before the cancer. Than again, cancer debilitates the body. (possibility but we are not sure)
Based on the circumstances this dude is an abusive one. He probably has family that he is not bothering because they are fed up with him. You can only help people so much and after that they are on their own (grow up dude).
Is he a good employee?
The employer can be supportive and help you at times (very specific and unique). Taking advantage of peoples kindness is a different story.
Just be firm and tell him you have to follow protocol, sounds like he is a problematic person based on his choice of words.
Family Leave is available to employees but it is very specific and people have to meet criteria and be able to produce whatever evidence is require (protocol).
Good luck with him!

It's possible for anybody to have a heart attack... Cancer patient or not.
My Uncle went into hospital for a routine kindney stone removal... He had a heart attack and died the day after the procedure because a blood clot that formed in his kidney moved to his heart.
I think it's actaully more likely for a cancer patient to suffer secondary complications like this... Perhaps a blood clot formed near the tumor or from inactivity and travelled to the heart... Perhaps the chemo/radiotherapy affected the bodies ability to control the heart... It's horible stuff is cancer therapy and it has tones of side affects...
Bottom line, yes... it is possible...

There is no reason why a cancer patient can't have a heart attack. They are just as susceptible to heart attacks as anyone else.

When your body becomes very weak due to an illness like cancer it is very likely for the heart to just stop.

Yes, my aunt had a heart attack while she had cancer. I'm not sure if the heart attack or the cancer killed her. I was only a kid when she died.
