I have a 2 year old rottie, my little princess. I've noticed that when people come over to the house or vs. she will immdiately sit behind me or infront of me, she's never been mean to anyone but will not socialize with them. Is this normal for rotties?

She is just telling your guests that you belong to her. This is very common in female Rotties. However, you may want to take her to classes to socialize her a bit more.

Depending on her level of "possession" of you, she might forcibly keep others away from you. I had a female Rottie, Azra, who would try to bite my husband whenever he tried to kiss me!

When she is sitting in front of you she is protecting you. My Rottie stared doing that at about the same age

It is hard to tell if she is being protective or if she is being fearful. You really need to properly socialize her.

Go to this website for tips on socializing:

She will be a more well-rounded happier dog because of it.

If she sits behind you it means she is scared. If she sits in front of you it could mean she is scared and wants to be near you. I wouldn't worry, she probably is nervous.

yes she is and you should be careful because she might attack someone or another animal if she thinks they might do something to you even if they weren't acting agressive
