i have one there!! it didnt hurt too much, a little more when they go over the bone but no thing unbearable

I have a tattoo of a golden garden spider on the back of my neck, and it is about 7 inchs tall and 6 inches wide. It is very detailed and took about an hour and 15 mins to do. For the most part the pain was nothing too much, even over my spine. The worst part was the tips of the legs that went up into my hairline. WOW did that part hurt badly! But most people don't get a tattoo up that high. You'll be fine!

Everyone takes the pain differently. But let me tell you this much your neck doesnt have much fat on it, which means the bone isnt protected under layers of fat. The sink is tighter also. So anywhere on your body where the bone isnt protected as much is going to hurt. But dont trip the area will probably go numb after a while. Good luck, oh and make sure the person your getting the tattoo from is a good artist. The last thing you want is a messed up tattoo where people can see it.

It would hurt more on your spine, because the bone is so close to the surface. For the most part it will hurt about as bad as a sunburn. Not bad, but still tender.

the part that goes over your spine will hurt a lot. i have a tattoo that runs the entire length of my spine pretty much and it hurts every time. but a neck tattoo can only be so big so it will totally be bearable.

Depends on how big it is going to be but the neck isnt really bad at all. I have one close to the neck and I am skinny and it didnt hurt really too badly.

ever get a tattoo at all? it hurts. but they say women take the pain better than men. no kidding.
it will feel like tiny hairs are continuously being pulled out, or like tiny electrical shocks. it's more uncomfortable than actual pain. but plenty of people have tattoos. they've all lived through it. :)

it'll probably hurt as bad as it would on ur ankle just because the skin is tighter but it shouldn't be dreadful or anything...im thinking about getting one myself there! and be sure to go to a recommended tattoo shop just for safty reasons

I just got one in that very spot last Saturday and surprisingly, it didn't hurt at all. My other two hurt worse (one on my ankle and one on my shoulder). I LOVE my new one, that's it in the pic on my avatar.
