Hello~

Hope that everybody had a wonderful Holiday Season!!!! :o)
I am 36 weeks Pregnant with our 2nd son. Our oldest son is 3. For the past year our 3 year old, has been in his car seat behind my seat ( The driver seat.) And he knows where his seat is. Now, my hubby wants to put his seat on the other side and put the infant seat on my side. What do you think??? Should we change sides or leave our 3 year old son's seat where it is and put the baby on the other side? Or do we need to put the baby in middle of the car's back seat? ( We live in CA.)

Also, our back seat is "dirty" with spilled juice and milk. Do you have a good idea on how to clean it up well??? To make it look as clean as possable with out getting it detailed??? Thanks!

Happy New Year to All of you!
Jennifer

Congrats on #2!

I think it would be better to have the new baby behind the passenger's seat. This way, when you're driving you can keep an eye on him/her. If the baby was directly behind you then you wouldn't be able to see if his pacifier fell out, if he spit up, etc.

As for cleaning the seats, we use Resolve carpet cleaner. Spray it on and let it set. Then scrub, scrub, scrub!

CA has no specific rules regarding where the seat needs to go; however, the infant's car seat should be in the center of the vehicle to better protect in case of a side impact accident. Leave your eldest's car seat where it is, and put the baby's seat in the middle.
Secondly, I don't know what kind of car/age of car you have, but if it has side impact airbags in the back, you *may* want to disable them as they can cause serious injury to children in car seats/booster seats. Check with your manufacturer to be on the safe side.
As far as the stains, no idea for the car specifically, but we use Spot Shot on our carpeting and upholstery at home, and that stuff gets out everything under the sun, including a year old stain that nothing else had gotten out. Might be worth a shot.

I have a three month old, and a 19 month old, we tried moving his seat over, NOOO WAY, I suggest putting the new baby behind drivers seat, I realize you want to see them, but in reality the older child needs to see you more and I think my son
s feelings where hurt, people tell me whats the difference but these are very important decisions I'm glad you are asking this question Sorry i see he is already behind the drivers seat maybe try to move him now before the baby and see how it goes

I would leave your sons seat where it is. You don't want to make him feel like he is less important than the new baby. To clean your car seats take some hand soap and water and make it foam up and just use the foam with a little finger nail scrubber and just scrub away. Good luck and Congratulations.

THE SMALLER BABY GETS TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE! all children should sit in the middle when possible. it helps reduce the chance of them getting hurt if youre in an accident! (in kentucky, the youngest child in the car had better be in the middle or you can get a ticket, along with a social services call)
Your son can sit where he is now, while the baby sits int he middle.
as far as the messy backseat, try buying some professional strength foaming car interior cleaner. buy a good scrub brush (wire?) and have a bucket of water and a powerful vacuum. Spray the interior of the car with the foam, let sit for a dfew minutes, take a rag and scrub the affected areas as hard as possible. rinse rag, and repeat the scrubbing. keep clean water in the bucket. do this to whole area, carpets included (with carpet cleaner). then vaccuum the area and let dry.you can find these in yur local autozone or similair store. Just ask a employee what he recommendes for a extensivly stained backseat and flooring. i did it to my car (thanks to my boyfriend who doesnt throw anything away- including sodas from mcdonalds....grr) and the backseat is almsot as good as new...

I say leave your son's seat where it is. It'll be a hard enough adjustment for him having a new baby around without it taking his place in the car.

As far as getting the grodyness out of the seat, I'd try Resolve spray. I've had good results getting cat stains out with it and don't see why it wouldn't work well against kid stains.

infant car seat should go behind the passengers seat.
we just learned that at car seat safety check.
....has something to do with the driver side airbag.

I actually prefer the baby to be opposite of me. That way you can turn around and see her/him if you need to. As far as cleaning, take it to a carwash and see if they can clean it. I did, but the stains returned eventually.

I heard that its safest to put babies in the front seat next to the driver.
