My older sister has a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT, with 4wd. I need to know if 22" Wheels will fit on her suv without making any mod's?

Just to take off her old 16" wheels and tires, and slip on some new 22" wheels with low profile tires.

If you can buy a 22" wheel for it,they make a tire that will be close to the same height, so it will fit in the fender well. 16" tires are 29.2-31.5" tall. Pick a width/aspect ratio that does not exceed the height of your present tire. For example a 265/40R22 is 30.4 inches tall.

The actual rim and wheel may fit the vehicle, but make sure the tire has enough clearance in the wheel-well, so that when you hit bumps in the road, it won't rub. You will also have to get the speedometer adjusted by a Ford mechanic to compensate for the extra rubber on the road, otherwise, your speed and mileage will not register accurately. You may want to consider a little less tire, which will still give you that aggressive stance, like an 18 or 20 inch

Put some mickey thompson 15s on it. lol Don't do the ghetto wheels, not on a 4x4.
But if you do (hey, your call and either will look good btw) don't do 22s. Too big for that truck. The 20s are going to lift it high enough as it is, unless you get REALLY low pro tires to match the stock height (20s and stock wheels side by side I mean). Don't forget after doing that, it would be a wise idea to upgrade the brakes to stop those monster wheels, and get the speedometer recalibrated. Good luck and happy modding!

I dont think 22's will fit, I have an explorer and the wheel wells arent the biggest..... I think 20 might be the max.... without raising the vehicle.

Yes, they'll fit. You can get the 22" wheels and tires, and preview how they'll look at www.tirerack.com. Check it out.
