i think they can...stories and victims of this have been hurt, beat up and raped.

i do pray every night and love and believe in god very much yet, i personally have been held down while awake laying on my bed by a strong force and i have had the covers moving away from me while i was still...when i pray it does go away...thank god...and thank you for your answers.

Yes. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.
He cast out devils that possessed people. But if the person went back to the practice that opened the door to the demons, then the demon sees the person clean and empty so finds meaner demons and they all enter the person.
In Christianity, God gives every child born of God the Holy Spirit who is with and will be in child of God. This protects the Christian from any demonic possession. But with spiritual birth comes spiritual eyes and Christian can discern the demonic spirits and take authority over them.
It is Written, Submit unto God. Resist Satan & satan flees. The trick is to submit to God. Submitting to God is just looking up and praying to God even asking why you feel an icky spirit or does someone need prayer for them. Devils and demons are afraid of someone submitting to God & they run.
I had a 1 year break down & was oppressed in it. But I had opened the door to them by forgetting about God for 10 years. I had practiced self hypnoses and got stuck in the dream domain for 1 year, until God delivered me from it. That deliverence happened at River of Life Fellowship and when I went forward for prayer.

Sylvia Brown says all that you have to do is yell at the spirit and tell it that it's passed on so it had better get away and go where it belongs and then it can't get at you. I feel spirits and occasionally see them, and I've never been too afraid of being harmed by them. I think spirits CAN harm you if you let them gain a large amount of power over you, like when you go out looking for contact and you know the spirit you've contacted isn't a nice one but you keep trying to manipulate it and get it to show itself anyway instead of sending it fully back to where spirits should be. Then again, what do I know? I'm only a 19 year-old kid.

i dont believe in bad spirits as such
and those lower spirits cant come near us to harm us...
and those cases about rape and beating during sleep etc has been shown to be sleep paralysis and old hag syndrome ( search it , its fascinating )
i have worked with spirit for many years now and know many people who have done so for 30/40 years ... and recieved nothing but love from spirit
and from my own studies there are many reasons that we cannot be harmed by spirit
and from my studies there are many other reasons that people would assume that what is happening to them is from spirit when it is not

No. The only bad spirits are cheap booze. That can hurt you. There's no spooks or beasties going bump in the night looking to get you. Stop watching bad movies.

Can you provide a link to where you say these things happened (not being sarcastic, I really want to read them). I hav enever been a believer that there are bad spirits. I have only believed that people have a hard time leaving us and that we can help them achieve leaving peacefully.

My aunt was held down on her bed by something she couldn't see. I think you can be possessed by the devil or a demon. They say poltergeists try to hurt you. I don't know. I do believe in ghosts and I think most of them are just wondering trying to find their place.

Spirits, if there are any, can only act through people. Of course people can harm us. People are the most dangerous critters on the planet.

In the Bible concerning the 7 sons of Sceva trying to cast out demons, the demon said, Jesus I know and Paul I have heard of, but who are you? The demon beat them up, tore off their clothes and they fled from the demon naked.
