I need a tactful way to get her to either stop talking or lower her voice. She is so much of a distraction, I can't concentrate. No use telling her boss because he's talks just as loud, just as much.

I would simply say do you think you could lower your voice a little.

If that doesn't work then sit her down and gently say I've noticed lately a lot of noise comes out of your office Do you please think you could STFU for Christ Sake? That should do the trick if the first doesn't.

tell her. just don't use words like "obnoxious" or "loud mouth." it is always better to deal with the person instead of their boss. she would resent you for it and probably make your life more difficult because you didn't go directly to her. it's same with dealing with a loud roommate. you just have to go talk to her and ask if she could be a little less noisy and tell her why. explain that you feel its affecting your work and leave the conversation on a positive spin. you can explain that you would be grateful. it's possible that she has no idea that she is irritating you and that all it would take to resolve the situation is to bring her attention to it.

Make your needs known...ask her politely to speak quietly because you are having trouble concentrating on work. If that does not work, tell your supervisor and have him/her speak to her boss...who is just as loud. Work comes first and that should be stressed. if your boss does not help, it's time to invest in ear plugs. I'm not kidding about that last one. Good luck and happy new year.

Simply speak to her and say something like, "I don't know if you're aware, but I can hear your conversation quite clearly from my office. I find it hard to do my work when you talk loudly. Would you mind speaking more quietly?"

And then after a short period of speaking at an acceptable level, return and say, "I just wanted to thank you for making an effort to keep your voice low. It's really helping me concentrate better on my work."

Tell them both to shut up or you will quit. If that doesn't quit, get soundproof walls(just kidding). Just tell them that you can't concentrate when they talk so loud and ask *nicely* to try and be a little quieter.

I used to throw my shoe at the adjoining wall when the creep on the other side used to get all loud and obnoxious.

Or you can say "WHAT? I CANT HEAR YOU TALK LOUDER, ITS VERY NOISY IN HERE FOR SOME REASON" pretending you're on the phone.

Either tell her in a nice way she is too loud or write an anonymous note and leave it on her table.

Just CALMLY pull her to the side and tell her how loud she is talking and tell her to talk her in a lower tone, of course!

If at all possible get those boise noise reduction earphones . Ask your boss if he would buy them for you. Maybe he will get the point.
