He's a five years old and I notice he doesn't retract his skin while he goes to the bathroom. Should I be teaching him to do this so he doesn't get infections from all that urine getting under his foreskin? Any advice greatly appreciated!

foreskin is designed to protect the head/glans from friction and drying out. At birth and for a number of years after (no set number though), it is adhered to the glans and that adhesion shoudl not be broken by pulling the foreskin back forcefully. As th eboy grows older and discovers his penis he will naturally play with it a little and during that time he will pull the skin back as much a sit will go. This natural playing around will gradually cause the adhesions to loosen and allow for full retraction.

Thus, there is no reason to try to fully retract the foreskin on young boys. The natural adhesion will prevent urine and other things from getting up under the skin anyway. However, it does not hurt to show him how to pull a little skin back so the stream of urine can be aimed properly. Foreskin in the way can cause pee to go in rather random directions. But don't try to get him to retract any further than it will go easily.

Same applies to cleaning. Whiel a little retraction isn't harmful, forcing the skin back against its will, can do damage. Far better to just let lots of water flush out the dirt than forcibly retract.

Your questions confuse me. First you are 20 something young woman with a boyfriend who just got circumcised. Then you say you've never been with a guy who is uncircumcised. Then you say your brothers were both uncircumcised but are thinking about getting circumcised. Then you claim that YOU are a man who is circumcised but want to restore your foreskin with a link to youtube. Then you are a twenty something year old woman with a girlfriend. Then you are a twenty something year old woman who is have multiple same-sex relationships.

So now you are a mother to a five year old uncircumcised boy? If this was a serious question I'd be happy to answer it. The answer above me has good and accurate information anyway.

never force the foreskin down. Teach him to gently pull it down in the bath and clean the area. While peeing I wouldn't worry about it. This is advice form doctor pretaining to my uncircumsized son.

Yes that is a good practice to teach, he will more likely get a yeast infection on the area you are talking about, also teach him how to wash the area with soap and water.

be careful not to damage his foreskin.retracting it before it is naturally ready can cause scarring to the foreskin which could result in phimosis or paraphimosis.

No, but do show him how to clean while he's taking a bath or shower.
