I am putting in this question so I can answer it myself with life saving information about cats and spaying and neutering, and why it is so important.
Spay and Neuter your Pets.

Spaying and neutering pet cats is the only way the burgeoning cat population problem will ever be brought under control. All the TNR (trap-neuter-return) groups, rescue people, and humane societies in the world will not have a chance to write done to their work until cat owners wake up, quit making excuses, and start neutering their cats.

I rarely get mad, because it is a draining and usually unrewarding experience, but I'm mad today. Why? Because of the latest of many similar news articles I've read about the same topic. This one is about the Calgary Humane Society, struggling with the problem of too many cats. That excellent agency takes in about 7,000 cats a year, and this year took in 300 more. They have to euthanize 40% of the cats for various reasons.Shelter workers weep as they give a cat one final hug and send it off to the gas chamber, and rescue workers wipe the tears

You forgot the gelding of horses, but this is okay. I just hope people will do it.

Consider Australia's problem with feral cats. Your program will not work by itself. An earnest attempt to wipe out and make cats extinct is the only good recourse. We just have to know when to quit. I doubt we have that much sense. Feral cats are a danger to all.
Not all cats should be sterilized. Some are needed to maintain a population. A little sense goes a long way toward staying away from extinction or disaster.
Boa constrictors have a strong foot-hold in Florida. Several native creatures are in danger of extinction.
We may already be too late for many species. Use wisdom; avoid hate and ignorance.

As Bob Barket says, "To control the pet population." Everytime I see a stray animal I wish I could take it home with me, but as well as others, I cannot for many reasons. This would not be such a problem if everyone got their pets spayed and neutered - there wouldn't be cute, but hungry and homeless little kittens and puppies running around. So sad...

To keep the animal population under control. Otherwise, they run rampant and then are caught by animal control and eventually euthanized. Always adopt a pet from a shelter, don't buy from a pet store. There are enough homeless pets our there w/ great personalities who need a good home and a loving family.

Now whi ask such a stupid question!? You should know that spaying and neutering are the right thing to do if you don't want poor defenseless puppies and kittens running around in this world hungry, filthy, and abandoned.People who don't "fix" their animals usually have the babies by accident and when their weened..THROW THEM OUT INTO THE CRUEL,HEARTLESS WORLD!.iF YOU EVER DONE THIS AND ARE READING THIS,I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE OF RABIES FROM YOUR OWN PET!

You want to spay/neuter your animals to keep the pet population under control. If people don't spay/neuter, then there are way too many homeless animals and too many animls in the shelters.
