I am an E4 Specialist Combat Medic and I have trained Iraqi soldiers and police officers. Iraqi soldiers spend about six weeks in "basic training"

To train the Iraq people in the military you can be any rank. Most of the US Military that train are NCO (Non-Commissioned Officer) or Staff-NCO (which means E-4 and above). Each branch has different names for their military ranks but if you hear the phrase "Sarge" in movies, that is an NCO. Staff Seargant, "Gunny", and loads of other names qualify as Staff-NCOs.

Trainers are usually E-6 and above, although all ranks of U.S. soldiers are involved with the training.

As soon as American Troops are trained, they are qualified to train others.
